Mohamed Salah Issues Statement to Teammates, Says Curtis Jones
Jones has shared that Mohamed Salah expressed regret to the group of players following the uproar from his televised remarks.
The Incident
Salah was left out from a key Champions League match subsequent to criticising the club and stating his relationship with manager had soured.
“Salah is an individual and he can say his own stuff,” Jones revealed. “He apologised to us and was like: ‘If my words hurt anyone, I'm sorry.’”
The manager has previously declined to reveal on whether he got an explanation from the player.
Team Unity
The player stated that the squad's reaction was unchanged. “He was the exact same Mo, he was smiling and it was business as usual,” the midfielder explained.
He also suggested that a competitor wanting to play is a positive trait. “It's clear there are different methods you can handle situations,” he said. “But if a lad’s fine to just be on the bench, then I think that’s a bigger problem.”
Team Form
The team's performance have stayed unbeaten in the period after the situation. Jones believes the Salah's words were not designed to destabilise the squad.
“If passion has boiled over, it’s always been from a place of caring,” Jones concluded. “We’re past that now and we’re uniting strongly, performing and securing victories.”
