The New Animated Series' Introductory Sequence Chose the Wrong Popular RPG Show Song

This latest animated series, the newest animated series from Critical Role, revealed an exciting introductory sequence. It features our favorite group of outcasts, misfits, and criminals kicking ass and taking names, while teasing at multiple agonizing personal histories for characters including the voice actor's wizard Caleb, and another actor's warlock orc, the character Fjord.

All in all, the opening appears amazing. However, I felt that an element was missing in the song choice.

This sequence uses "Welcome to Wildemount", an exceptional composition created by artist Colm McGuinness. It's a track originating from the official score of the same name, the second one put out by Critical Role Productions LLC's music division their music brand. It's a great nostalgic option, and I believe that fans of the sequel series will love its inclusion.

Personally, The Mighty Nein's opening doesn't quite capture the excitement and excitement that was part of the second campaign's live-play sessions. "It's Your Turn", composed by musician Jason Charles Miller, was an instant classic in my view when it was first revealed in that year, and it improved further when cast member Sam Riegel wrote words to the melody for the series' animated intro in the later year.

Including singing from one actress, another performer, a co-star, as well as Riegel himself, the song was catchy and fun. Back then, I hadn't even watched the follow-up series at that point, but this was such an earworm that I still saved it on my device. It's a song that excites you before you start an installment of adventurous fun.

The show's intro with "Welcome to Wildemount" doesn't strike the same chords for me. It's a grand composition, but based on my understanding of the group, I feel that its mood is somewhat mismatched.

Naturally, the creators has already said that the animated show will have a few changes and variations from the original live sessions. A tonal change for its intro seems to be one of them.

This animated adventure will be released on the streaming service from November 19. For those eager before that, or wish to prepare to get to know the characters of Critical Role's Campaign 2, the original episodes are accessible on the audio platform and YouTube.
